I need to remove and replace a boss which is solvent welded on.

I have seen advice on the net that for solvent welded ones you can try using a chisel and a heat gun.

Has anyone managed to do it successfully without ruining the pipe?

Also I would image the solvent weld originally would have damaged the pipe - how do you clean the pipe up to make another connection? Sand paper?

just a standard size with a 40mm adapter - it is an OSMA one I believe

No it needs to come off but be replaced in place.

maybe i will try and demo it out on a scrap piece of pipe first and see what happens.

It's called solvent WELD for a reason - it's a permanent joint which cannot be unmade
