asked husband to sort out new washer as we have a dripping tap in the bathroom. However fallen at the first hurdle, he can’t get the caps of at the side. There are no screws, he’s unable to twist??? Any ideas?
Looks as if there might be room on the shaft to not remove the tap handle, just unscrew the shiny cover and see if the brass nut becomes accessible. No sign of any flats on those covers so use a Stilson or crescent wrench with a towel in the jaws
They look like Vado "Elements" taps. If so, unscrew the round chrome shrouds below the handles, and the handles will come off. You can see the round "line" where the shrouds meet the body of the tap.
Looks like there are caps on the end of the handles. Unscrew to reveal screws underneath. Are the taps 1/4 turn or screwdown? If they are 1/4 turn you will need to replace cartridges and not just washers.
Assuming they are Vado "Elements":
1. There are no screws underneath.
2. Undo the shroud and the handle and shroud come off together.
3. With the shroud and handle removed you can access the large brass hexagon which con be unscrewed to remove the cartridges.
