Hi all,

We have got a wooden chest with a cup mark on it and the wife seen a video saying how to treat it which ive tried doing but hasnt resolved the situation.

Any ideas please

kin regards Mark

Is it french polish?

What did the wife try to do?

Photos will help.

Hi, it wasnt french polish. she suggested applying vaseline to the mark for 24 hours then removing it all with white vinegar. She didnt try it but i did. ive tried getting a photo using my phone having problems with getting access to my phone via my laptop

Rings are usually moisture trapped under surface , hot iron over tissue can sometimes remove .

Thanks for the suggestion. forgive me for saying but wouldnt the tissue catch fire with the heat of the iron

you mean in the same way that ironing a shirt makes it catch fire?

BTW, vinegar does not clean off vaseline. try it on a kitchen worktop.

A photo really would be a big help.
If it's antique wood then it could require specialist treatment.
How old is the chest?
