just turn the FCU off, get 3 piece terminal strip, mark the existing wires and terminate them in the terminal strip, turn the FCU back on and leave it for a few days , if everything working OK then it is indeed disconnected and no longer in use, if things dont work just reverse that and put it back the wa it was and decide how you want to replace it
