This is a novice question as I've never done carpeting before. :D
I'm taking out carpet, so could I cut the carpet to release any tension before pulling off the grippers?
I'm getting new carpet in so need to keep grippers intact if possible.

once youve got it started i ant see any problems with it just omming up,apart from the weight of the carpet and size, then you may want to cut it into managable lumps anyway.or just roll it up and see if anyone wants it.

Start in one corner facing wall. (on hands and knees)

Stanley knife with sharp blade in hand

lift carpet in corner

start cutting approx 2 foot wide strip

shuffle backwards cutting as going (knife arm straight and locked, other hand holding tension into carpet)

when complete roll up strip wind some tape round

repeat

carpet then easily fits in boot of car (or even wheely bin)
