Hello

I'm completely renovating our bathroom into a wetroom and as per the first task I'm stripping the entire room to its bones so I can board it out completely either with hardiebacker and impey waterguard or abacus elements backer board. I've removed the old plasterboard and obviously on external walls this has been attached using dot and dab. I've tried to remove some lumps using a cold chisel and lump hammer but this keeps ripping lumps of breeze block out and potentially may be loosening the blocks in the wall!

Is there any way I can remove all of the dot and dab whilst mimimising the damage to the wall or would I be better off dotting and dabbing around the existing stuff to attach the new boarding?

Any help is appreciated!
