i have an old 70s style outset gas fire and am looking to remove it and possibly replace with an electric suite which sits flush to the wall. this is more for cosmetic reasons than heating as the ch heats the room fine. the current fire has a kind of metal plate with a vent covering the open hole can i just leave this in situ and put the new fire suite in front of will i have to cap the fire. am trying to save money as this is a counil rented property and not my own. sorry for my diy ignorance
