Just started removing wallpaper from a plasterboard wall in a house I recently moved into. On two of the walls (pictured) it looks like the previous owners wallpapered directly onto plasterboard with no skim layer before. Struggling to only remove the wallpaper without also removing the original paper layer that is attached to the plasterboard. Is this a problem if parts of this are removed?

I intend to paint the wall so suspect I will need to get a plasterer in to skim these walls. Does a matter how I get the wallpaper off if I'm skimming it anyway?

Thanks!

Depends on the state of plasterboard after paper has come off.
If you can't get paper off without major damage, seal with pink sbr from Toolstation and skim.

If it's not looking great it's not expensive to replace or even board over the top.

To remove paper, peel top layer off dry but slowly. Don't whip off. Go real slow controlling paper and trying to get a big bit or even the entire top layer in one go.

Wet the backing for 15mins to remove carefully. That's how I would do it.

Oh, start in bottom corner not the middle of the wall. Never understand why people start in the middle of a wall.

If you were to ask a plaster to skim that wall he should, if he's pride in his work, walk striaght out. Take the whole lot out and start again or reboard over the top. Anything less is a bodge

Thanks, followed this advice and the remainder came off much cleaner.
