Removing wood effect tape

Hi folks - I'm not sure if this is the right area of the forum, but here goes...

The MUPPETS (!) who were in my house before me decided to use this wood effect tape in the bathroom to cover part of the shower surround including over the wood under the shower door (inside and outside shower). Some of this was water damaged and had to go and the bits that were damaged came off no probs, but the rest is stuck fast. I'm honestly not sure what they've used to secure it, but some of it is completely solid and wont sand off and brute force is damaging the wood.

Any ideas of what I can use to remove this? All suggestions welcome!

Usually iron on tape , so apply heat to loosen.
