Renault alternator wiring

The markings would really really help!

I took it off and examined it very closely - The 2 threaded poles are marked L and B , there are no markings on the small plug although one of the terminals is smaller than a standard spade connector. It's not quite the same as the one in the picture from autoshop

I take it you tried a negative to the chassis, B to the battery positive, L to one side of a lamp and the other side of the lamp to positive (ignition)?
What does the lamp do if wired like that?

thats exactly how i wired it - the light just stays on , i have tried positive to both of the other terminals too and for that matter , earthing them too but still no charge ! I'm not sure if it's relevant but if i connect the warning lamp to either of the other terminals it comes on but at about half power !!
Not sure where to go next but thanks for your continued support

I'm just hoping you haven't broken it with guessing which wire does what

Just in case anyone's still interested i have finally managed to wire the alternator so it charges - what we thought was the warning lamp terminal is in fact just an earth, the warning light is one of the two in the plug.
Anyway i just wanted to say thank you all for your help
Best regards Antony
