Renault Clio Faulty wipers

Hi, I have a 2006 Renault Clio. The wiper blades have got a fault and I have been told by the garage that the motor is OK and the problem seems to be the computer and will cost £400 to repair. Is it possible to put a seperate switch and connect to the motor? Any ideas will be grateful.

Unfortunately the wipers can and probably are controlled by the body control module in the 2006 Clio and if the laptop (when they read the fault codes) says it needs replacing that's exactly what they will do. Best to get a second opinion, from a smaller maybe independent garage? They don't have to have fancy reception areas to be good at what they do. Hopefully they are incorrect and its something less costly.
