we have a problem with our megane cutting out sometimes but only in the following senario: drive for 15-20 mins (starts fine cold), leave car for an hour then it starts and cuts out straight away, splutters into life after 2 or 3 attempts. each time the temp guage has shown the same temp. Garage denys any fault, only had car for a week and close to giving it back, does anyone have any suggestions to fix problem?

Coolant temp sender would be the first thing to change. Cheap and easy to do.

thanks from reading other posts i thought that or the TDC sensor but on going back to garage yesterday they have now said they have ordered a part for the problem even though originally they denied the fault??? Can't remember the name of the part but something to do with the timing? Does that sound right to you?

Crankshaft/knock sensor?

On EFI Granada's this fault was caused by a dirty idle control valve

Supposedly now fixed, not convinced though as still chugging to start. AirCon part changed and now there is a whirring noise when you switch it on and accelerate. Anyone got any ideas on that or is this normal?
