Hello I have a vertical render crack from the corner of my front room window running downwards around 1mm wide which at the time of buying the house it was deemed long standing and non progressive. I have noticed that when it rains the area around the crack seems to hold the moisture more than on the rest of the house, ie last to dry! I am aware if not treated the concrete underneath could get damp, however my understanding is that the crack has been there for many years with no issues I just dont like the way it looks! I have noticed other properties around the area have repairs that sort of look like new cement patched over the old cement. I wonder what type of person do I look for to repair this? I am not keen on having a terrible looking new cement patch on the wall at the front of the house (its not a painted house) if there is anyway to avoid.... :)

It's more or less impossible to patch render and make it invisible. It can be patched to look good, but there's no way you'll get a newly patched area of plain,un-painted render to look the same as the original. It's the very same with patching roughcast.

Thanks for the replies, I know the repair wouldnt be perfect I would just prefer it not to look like cement slapped in the house :) ok so how do you get filler into a 1mm wide crack though or does it go over the crack rather than into??

push it in across the crack multiple times to get a good deep fill then scrape off excess along the crack.
