How should the render on an extension be finished or sealed?
No trade experience so no idea of the correct terminology.

Our kitchen extension is cold. There's cold air through the plug sockets and a chill every time it's frosty.
If i put my fingers at the base where the grey render stops outside there is some sort of black mesh/sheet. But it's not sealed.
Could this be how the wind is getting into the kitchen and making it cold?

It's more likely you just have inadequate insulation in the walls and roof.

Most rooms have one or two external walls, an extension typically has three greatly increasing the area exposed to the weather and required more insulation and usually a larger heat source( radiator).
Air doesn’t normally pass thru sockets.
Is this a recent build?

It's around 10 years old. We.moved in after it was built so have no really details. Its a detached house so we have nothing but external walls

Could I seal up the outside with something like gaffer tape as a temporary measure.
Is there a way to tell if its dot and dab? The walls won't hold a.screw inside.

You could get some plastic sheeting and use gaffer tape (or Gorilla tape) to stick it over the mesh temporarily. You could then tell if this is causing the draft problem. Leaving it in place for too long may not be a good idea as lack of void ventilation may mean it starts to get mouldy inside the wall.

Is there external insulation? I only ask because of the mesh at the bottom..

Not as far as I know. That mesh is some sort of fabric which is betweek the brick and the grey render.

The mesh should have been cut back to under the beads.
If it is block or brick built air cannot get under the render.

cold air through the plug sockets
I have sen it where the cable passes from the roof space above the ceiling, and down a tube to the back of the sockets.
As the roof space was open to outside, outside cold drafts/wind went into the roof space, down the tube, and out through the sockets onto the room.
It also made the light switches drafty on a windy day.
