Rendering tools

Hi

I will be rendering the outside of my garage shortly, once the weather has improved, can anyone please advise of what tools should be used i.e. metal trowel ( can this be used for the finish ).

Also what is the best mix to use and should the walls be PVA first.

no pva!

just dampen with water.

look in the search section. type 'rendering' and it will throw up loads of suggestions.
