We have a 1870s house with solid walls. These had been covered with plasterboard & had become damp. We have quotes from a local plasterer, who's bee highly recommended and who's suggested we use Renderlite as an alternative to lime. Having read up on it, it seems this isn't recommended as it has some cement content & won't allow for movement. Is this the case? The outside of the wall has & will have breathable masonry paint on. Any thoughts? I know lime is cheaper but will take longer labour wise.
