A couple of us have offered to renovate/redecorate the exterior of my (female) friend's old end-terraced house.
Currently, it looks very 'dirty' and unsightly, and she's unhappy returning there each day (see pics below). So it's primarily about improving the aesthetics.
*There is almost no budget - except for some new exterior paint, so we cant employ professionals or hire expensive equipment*

We have just ladders, a scaffolding tower, a jet wash, brushes and painting equipment.

Which jobs would be worthwhile us attempting / doing, which are best left alone, and how best to do them (what order)?

- there's moss growing over the tiled roof
- the red brickwork (chimney stack and lower-front of house) looks old and filthy - can it be cleaned/brightened?
- the paintwork (on pebbledash, rendering, and some wooden facias) is dirty and old.

I've seen on Youtube that using a Power Jet to remove moss risks damaging the roof tiles, but could I put it on a 'wide jet' spray and use that to remove most of the moss/dirt, or even just use a normal hose?
Or am I likely to cause more damage than benefit?

I assume I can just scrub the red brickwork with a soft brush and mild soap / warm water to improve its appearance?

I assume the paintwork at least can be cleaned with a (wide, dispersed) Power Jet, and then the painting itself will be straightforward?

Many thanks. I guess we're expecting to spend around a week on it.

Is this a DIY problem or a state-of-mind problem?

Frankly it doesn't look too bad to me - sure, you could paint the walls, but that doesn't explain "unhappy returning there each day". What else is going on in her life?

How tall is your tower? You really don't want to fall from the roof or chimney.

She has a state-of-mind problem (that we're helping with too), but my question is a DIY problem.
I always like to do a reasonable job, especially if it's someone else's home.

We've a few friends/ acquaintances with different height towers, so reaching the roof/chimney safely might well be possible (albeit, with considerable effort).
