Renovation insurance

This is mainly aimed at those who renovate entire properties. Do you folks take out special insurance above and beyond standard buildings cover?

I've got a flat to renovate including adding GCH and some other plumbing and wiring and want to indemnify myself in case of accidents like pipes leaking water into the below flat after being installed.

That wouldn't be an accident, that would be incompetence.

You can mitigate this risk by paying someone who knows what they're doing, and making sure that they have the public liability insurance that the law requires them to.
