I am working on a home built in 1939 which they used cast iron and steel pipes for the drains. The drain for the washer is steel going into a cast iron joint which was sealed with lead. The lead is loose and the joint now leak when water is poured down the drain..... how would I go about resealing the joint. Is it just a matter of using a torch and heating up0 the pipe to remelt the lead? HELP?? :?:
