Before tiling on concrete What’s the best thing to repair deep (5mm+) holes/divots/chips out of concrete?

swilli88, good evening.

The tile adhesive should be more than able to take care of such small indentations, just make sure you get the indentations as clean as possible.

Hi mate, thanks for reply!

Im Thinking of using self levelling compound before laying the tiles so would do the repairs before the slc

Would you still Suggest tile adhesive in that case?

swilli88, good evening, again.

No I would simply let the SLC fill the indentations, then the adhesive for the tiles.

I assume it is a floor?? if so just get the concrete as clean as you can, that way the SLC can "grab" the concrete and stay there.

Thank Ken

but I read in a few places that SLC should be used for depths greater than a few mm?

Yes agreed, but this information is not for very small "localised" indentations and such, it is to stop someone using the SLC to cover a [shall I call it a crater] of 50.mm over an area of 0.5. M2.

Localised very, very small indentations in effect do not count, just do not use SLC to mask seriously large deep imperfections and hollows
