Repairing rotten porch wood

My mum's wooden porch has rotted in just this area, the rest is ok. I am not skilled in carpentry so any advise as to what I can do to repair this as I am going to undercoat and prime the whole porch. Any kind of filler perhaps ?

Looks like replacement is required, design is poor , timber too close to the ground which means it will always be getting wet from splash off the ground.

Pretty obvious really: remove the affected material and splice in some new timber. A good joiner can do this.
