Hi guys. I've got a Samsung Ecobubble 8kg, model is WW80J5555FX/EU. Bought new in 2019 so I've had about 6 years use. Last week it stopped completing cycles and the drum isn't turning. Water fills and drains and that's all. I've taken the back off and removed the belt and motor and checked the brushes and one seems to be broken, though I'm not sure why there's still so much carbon stick left after 6 years use.
Anyway, in diagnostic mode I only get a dash and colon symbol now. I watched this video:
and at about 6 minutes in, he shows the same symbol on the same model and he was confident the PCB needed replacing. He replaced it and all was well again. My feeling is that my PCB probably needs replacing too. But I wanted to try new brushes first. I received these today which said it's for my model,
but the spade connector on it is much wider and so won't fit. The length of the new brushes also looks a bit shorter. I'll return them but I don't know where to get brushes that are an exact match as I can only find non genuine compatibles.
I'm not even sure if the brushes will fix the whole problem? I'm guessing they will just make the motor work properly again to turn the drum. I'm also prepared to source a used PCB and fit it myself which I can buy for about £70. I found one on ebay which says it's in perfect working order. But then I'm thinking, it might have already had a few years use and could just die a week later. So can anyone recommend where to get brushes that will definitely fit and/or, is it worth continuing to try and fix it and buying a used PCB if the brushes don't fix everything, or forget it and buy a new washing machine?
Here's a short video with me showing the old brushes and commutator and a couple of photos.
