Replace existing door with fire door

I was carrying out plumbing work in a rented property recently, a joiner was working in the property replacing existing doors with fire doors.
I noticed the joiner did not replace or upgrade the existing timber frames.
He cut and altered the new fire doors to fit the existing frames.

Was the joiner working to acceptable standards?

I would have thought the fire door would be have fitted with a suitable matching frame ?

Unless there is a guarantee issue, (matching??) door sets would not be required, as long as they came up to building regs. standard...pinenot
