hi Everyone, i would like to replace my room thermostat currently honeywell DT90E with the Tado wired smart thermostat X (starter kit)

my current system detgails are :
-Vailant boiler Ecotec plus
-Drayton LP522 programmer
-Honeywell DT90E Thermostat ( has x2 AA batteries)
-hot water cylinder in airing cupboard(pressurised)
-no cold water tank in loft

Question:
will this work with the Tado wired smart thermostat X (starter kit) please? anything i need to be aware of please, as this will be a DIY job.

i have attached some pictures of current Thermostat wiring. currently although there are 4 wires as you can see from the picture (red, yellow, blue and green/yellow-earth), only the red and yellow cables are actually connect. am no electrician :giggle:

my current system has worked fine past 4 years with no issues at all, apart from the annoying fact that i cannot control the thermostat unless am home and infront of it. being able to control it from my phone will be great.

thank you

You have posted this question in the wrong forum. Plumbing and Central Heating would have been better than Car Repairs/Maintenance. So you may find the MODs will move it. However here is the information you require:

The Tado wired smart thermostat X will replace the Honeywell DT90E Thermostat using the same two wires.

Red Wire in Honeywell A = Tado COM
Yellow Wire in Honeywell B = Tado NO

As the Tado has both time and temperature control built in, the programmer will become redundant as far as heating is concerned. Therefore it should be set so that the Central Heating is permanently 'on' 14/7 and then the Tado will take over full control of the heating schedule. The Hot Water will still be controlled by the Drayton.

thank you so much, Stem, for the response and the simple explanation. its appreciated.

Sorry i did not actually realised i posted in wrong forum. thanks for pointing that out. there is no option for me to move it so i guess i will leave it for. the moderators to move.

many thanks

by the way a questions please if i may.... does the thermostat click on/off quietly or is it as loud as the Honeywell DT90E? am hoping not as loud or at least not louder than my current thermostat as i can hear the DT90E click on and off even when am upstairs.

Sorry I can't help with that. It will depend how the new thermostat is designed. If it has a mechanical relay for the switching then yes it will click, if it's solid state, i.e. electronic it won't.

Even if it's a relay I imagine with it being newer it shouldn't be as noisy as an old thermostat.

And the MOD's have moved the post for you (y)
