I have a Honeywell CM907 wireless thermostat. The screen has gone (seems fairly common!) and whilst it still functions in terms of whatever timer settings I've already got set, if I try and adjust anything its just not having it.

This website suggests I can just buy the same model fairly cheaply. This is appealing, in as much as it works and if the screen breaks again in 10 years time then I've only lost £35. It also gives the option of buying a newer model - TotalHome Wireless 7-Day Programmable Thermostat (TTHWFP) Inc Relay. This seems to say it will bind to the existing receiver. I'm assuming I have a BDR91 relay - it looks the same as in the pictures at least. Annoyingly I can't find a wireless version without also buying another receiver, but I will keep looking.

I'm no electrician or heating engineer. Is it as simple as just buying a new thermostat and following the instructions to bind it to my existing receiver? I have someone coming to service the boiler this week so was thinking it might be worth buying this now incase anything goes wrong and they can hopefully assist.

In all this I'm assuming that if I have a Honeywell receiver at the moment, the simplest option will be just to buy another of the same brand (if I'm not currently going all out smart home).

Cheers!

Honeywell aren't as good as they once were. The receiver may look the same but might not be and may not bind up properly. The one that does seem to be the same is the T2R
