Got a replacement ignition key for a Vitara about 6/7 months ago due to "other halfs" loss of the spare key
Worked fine, however a couple of weeks ago went to start car with key, nothing, dashboard light "Ignition Fault", towed into Garage who checked vehicle, had the ECU tested, no fault,
after much head scratching the Garage reckoned it was an immobiliser fault,
Then had a brainwave,tried using my original key, Started first time. (The replacement spare key has broken down !!)
How can a key break down ?? I accept keys these days have microchips built into them, do the chips only last for a short time on replacement keys, why would it go faulty,????
