My current toilet seat which was fitted new three years ago has pretty much stopped soft closing. I have been looking for a replacement but I am having trouble because of the shape. It is not square but tapers slightly from front to back (see drawing). All the seats I have found are "square" having the same width front and back. If I fitted one of these it would look odd as there would be an overhang either side at the front or it would be too narrow at the back.
Can anyone help? Thanks in anticipation.

All you can do is try a square one.

It 7.5mm difference either side which isn't much.
See what it looks like when fitted

I may have to try a square seat eventually. The lack of soft close isn't really a problem and It is only the lid that has lost it. There is no panic so I can keep looking for a while. I would ask the company that fitted my bathroom but as we didn't part on the best terms due to quality of work issues, I am not keen on speaking to them again.

No honestly, which is why I am no hurry to replace it. I think I am more looking ahead to a day when I may have to replace it for some reason. This has confirmed that I probably won't find an exact match so makes the search easier come the day.

Maybe it's possible to repair the soft close mechanism?
I wanted to try but annoyingly I cannot see any way into it. I cannot see how they could have even assembled it. It's frustrating really as I always like to have a go at fixing things like this. I am going to have another look to see if there is anything obvious otherwise I will have to assume it was assembled by magic :)
