Hi - very new to all this! Have decided to try and save money by replacing our Bosch fan oven element ourselves having found some great advice on the internet. Got the replacement element and all seems simple enough but this one has no earth tag and I'm really not sure what to do with the existing earth connection which is attached to the broken element.

Would really welcome any advice - in plain English though as I'm a complete novice! Thanks.

You need to insulate the earth wire and keep it out of the way of the element terminals.

Thanks - can you explain why the element once needed and earth and now doesn't? I had read on another post about wrapping it in insulating tape and keeping it out of the way of the fan - but with my absence of knowledge about electricity it makes me nervous!

The element is screwed to the chassis which is deemed to be sufficient.
