Replacing a cylinder lock

Now this is getting interesting. Looking at the link from R&R reagrding the matched keys, I thought, nice idea, but if you lose the keys, then the locksmith can't break into either one, so what't the next step. I think I might go and have a chat with my local locksmith.

Got a set of all my keys held with a key holding company and alarm response company, only called them out once. Cheaper than a locksmith.

If someone has snapped your lock(s) you're still going to need a locksmith. The ABS break secure can be opened with the key from the inside but not from the outside.

My reply was for the post by Doggit saying "if i lost my keys" but i will reply to your above comment.
Got sufficient hand tools in my car to open any snapped euro lock,or any unsnapped lock,so no worries.

My policy requires that I have a 5-lever lock to BS-whatever.
Fitting a lock that you believe is better but that doesn't meet their requirements is a risk.

The requirement for a 5-lever lock to BS3621 normally applies to wooden doors only. For uPVC doors, the requirement is often just a multi-point lock with at least three locking points. But don't take my word for it! Best check your policy :)

Also, I think all the current cylinders that meet the Sold Secure Diamond standard are also British Standard certified. (In terms of security, the British Standard for euro cylinders is years out of date, whereas the Sold Secure Diamond standard is kept bang up to date.)
