replacing a egr assembly on my ford focus 1.8 tdci

hi there i have just bought a new egr sensor assembly and im having problems disconnecting the old one . the part im having trouble with is a metal pipe with a push on connecter .i cannot get the connecter to come off of the old assembly. any idead thncx
