Replacing a galvanised roof

Interesting isolation switch there... isolation procedure "close eyes, push cable left, push cable right, push cable left, duck"

But is that a cable being used for electrical purposes, or just an odd length of T/E being used to tie the roof down?

I hadn't thought of that. I looked at the rest of the photos and I see you are possibly right

unless it is something to do with the outhouse supply running to the bottom left

"The initial work on the property was the repair and improvement of drainage which has been a major contributor to the deterioration of the building."

Why on earth didn't he use someone competent? How can he expect a restoration to go well if the initial work has been a major contributor to the deterioration of the building?

I had to laugh at his attitude to historically appropriate materials - he starts off describing how the building is in some sort of conservation area, and how he wanted to learn how to work with old buildings, then later in one breath he talks about using lime mortar and plaster etc, but in the next how he's boarded over the T&G ceiling and stripped the doors and coated them with PUV.

I don't know why he used PU on the internal doors. But what is the point you think you are making about drains and competence?

OK - remove the superfluous description of what the work was, and you are left with

"The initial work on the property has been a major contributor to the deterioration of the building."

I wasn't making a point, just having a bit of fun with his poorly constructed sentence.
