Thank you all for all the advice on this website. I have learnt a great deal over the last year without ever needing to post. Absolutely fantastic! But there is a first time for everything.
I need to replace the radiator in the lounge as it has a pinhole leak.
House: Small one bedroom flat on ground floor.
Heating System: Closed with a Combi boiler
Lounge Radiator: 1750mm (W) x 600mm (H), about 30 years old, in a very visible position
Window directly above radiator: 1740mm wide
Pipework: The pipes either side of the radiator come vertically straight up through the floorboards. They are 1815mm apart measured from the inside edge of the pipes.

If I could buy a 1750mm wide radiator, then great. But they don’t seem to make them that size any more. I don’t really want to drop down to 1600mm as I would like to keep the width of the window fully covered. Also the radiator joins are very visible so I don’t really want to use untidy telescopic extending tails.
So, it looks like I should go for a 1800mm wide radiator. My question is, is it possible to fit a 1800mm radiator into the existing gap, (1815mm between the inside edges of the existing vertical pipes coming up thought the floor), and still keep it looking neat and tidy.
I don’t really want to have to re-plumb one of the vertical pipes coming up through the floorboards. Carpets up, floor up, fully drain system, pipe cutting, soldering, cutting whole in floor, adding inhibitor............ So much extra work just for 4 tiny centimetres.
Thank you for any advice.
