hi,
I am thinking of replacing the door frames in my house,as they have a glass window in the top of them that I want to get rid of, only problem is I haven\\\'t a clue where to start,I know I\\\'m going to have to take all the casing and the frame itself off and then put some plasterboard were the window was then replace the woodwork, could you give me any advice on how to do it please. : :?:

If the door frame is okay then just cut out the window section above & make a new frame minus the plasterboard thickness on both side to finish flush to the exsisting wall.

as masona says except assuming you want to make it look like a normal opening make shure there is a bit off wood going accross the top of the door frame to continue full width of the frame from side to side for the arcatrave to nail to

you can also re use the arcatrave if your carefull

what the heck is an arcatrave ? as you pointed, I do want the door frame and above to be flush with surrounding wall and to look like a normal door

arcatrave is just the wooden surrounds that fills the door frame to wall gap[door surrounds] ;)

Architrave :D

Not an easy word to spell, well that's the way the dictionary spelt it
