New double glazing units been put into a third floor flat with internal beading UPVC frames and new fir tree gaskets put in on the outside. The old gaskets were 20 years old and shrunk so they were replaced with what looked like the same type and size. However the gaskets would not push fully into the grove in the frame in parts so they are not in uniformly straight when you look at the line of the frame. When it rains water you can see drops of water getting between the glass and the gasket, and the room feels slightly draftier and noisier. When you push on the glass you can feel it move and see the gasket move in a way that the old units and gaskets do not. In your experience does the gasket not being seated straight and some water getting in matter as long as the drainage slots in the frame works? If it does matter any ideas how can the gasket be better fitted (if that is the problem)? Thanks.
