I have two felt/flat roofs and am considering have them repalced to slate & pitch. One roof is on an extension to the side of the house and is a few inches lower than the original slate roof on the main house and looks pretty naff. Are pitch roofs better or is it a ££ decision? Is this a major job?

Yes,flat roof are a major problems and noisy when raining.Pitch roof overcome that.

or is it a ££ decision?
Not,if you do it yourself  You don't say how big the roof area is and depending on your area.

Is this a major job?
Not if you know what you're doing but you will need building permission as you're altering the size of the roof.
