I have an old Honeywell T40 and would like to replace it with a Homexpert THR870: http://www.homexpertbyhoneywell.com...ermostats/Pages/Programmable Thermostats.aspx

The T40 has two wires, a red one connected to 1, and a yellow one connected to 3. There's also a short blue wire but this is connected to nothing. (see image)

Can someone advise if this is okay, and how the wires should be connected. (Sorry, I'm an amateur and I understand the wire colours are non-standard?)
