We've just moved into a house with plastered walls that were covered in pretty hideous textured wallpaper so we've started the process of stripping it off.

Only problem is, the interior sealant around the (PVC) front door was applied on top of the wallpaper so has come away. There is a gap of about 2-3 mm between the door and the plaster in most places. The plaster has crumbled along the edges in a couple of places so will need filling - in most cases, it's very small areas, but there is one larger gap in the corner of the frame (1cm x 2cm going in to the cavity). Exterior of the door is fully sealed.

Looking for suggestions on best materials to fill and seal (caulk / silicone / foam for the large gap?) and best order to fill / seal / paint.

Thanks!

You could do what the " Old Boys" used to do for filling,
scrumple up newspaper ( preferably the " Sun" or the "mail") wedge it in the gap and hole, then fill with a well known filla rub down when dry and hard, run a bead of Painters mastic along the edge, job done.
