I'm doing a refit of my kitchen including the ceiling and lighting. Can anyone point me in the direction of a quick guide around fitting ceilings and approved lighting. I will be selling this place at some point, so will be floating the refit in front of the BCO for my area. I know someone will come back and say talk to the BC man - but it's always good to have some knoweldge and reading material behind you before asking.

I'm looking for

Type of laminate any gradings ?
Type of downlighters (if they are still allowed) and distances needed - types of bulbs (although I read quite a few posts on the bad points of halogen - and in some cases any form of downlighter)
Do I need insulation between the laminate ceiling and the floor boards above.
Can I get away with teracotta plany pots as fire hoods nowadays

has anyone seen a list of "things" to hit that will get me started planning.
