I am looking at replacing a standard white light switch to a black nickel light switch, but a little confused. This light switch is a double switch used to turn on/off an external light & an on/off for a ceiling rose. I have been looking at switches, and belive i will need a 2 gang switch, and 1 way, is that correct. Is 2way, when you have another socket else where controlling the same lights?

if by "another socket" you mean another switch then yes, that's 2 way..

if only one switch turns the lights in question on and off then a 1 way 2 gang switch will be fine..

be sure to make a not of where the existing wires go on the existing switch before starting to remove it and if possible take a photo...

after too..

post them here and we can confirm that you've done it right and safe..

you will need to connect an earth wire to the switch since you are fitting a metal one in place of a plastic one..
