Hi, is it still OK legally wise to replace out of date hard wired smoke alarms in domestic homes, no new wiring is needed just pretty much new Base plates.. thanks
Yes that was always fine even in a kitchen as it's basically replacing an accessory.
Nowadays it's more lenient so you can in a manner of speaking, do anything that isn't fundamental to the circuit, loosely described as, don't go opening the consumer unit cover.
