I’m replacing an outside PIR connected to two floodlights but the wires are different colours.

The photo here shows the old setup (power in at the top and old PIR at the bottom).

The new PIR has blue, black and brown cables.

I guess brown to brown is easy but then do I do black to blue and dark grey to black or black to black and dark grey to blue?

Cheers!

In the top of the picture I see black, earth, dark grey and brown?

So I should do black to blue and then ‘dark grey’ to black?

Did we ever have such problems with the old (proper) colours of Red for L and Blck for N with a Green/Yellow (or just Green) for E.
Red to Brown and Blue to Bits! as they say.

Mind you, fair point, if we had a length of RYB 3 core & E what did folk start to use Yellow for once E changed from Green to Green/Yellow?
You can not always win!

To be fair I must point out that because of my age I was brung up on Red being +ve or L and Black being -ve or N and Green being E as proper colours.
