Hi. I've just changed a plastic light switch for a chrome dimmer. The light and switch work great, but I've found that the black box for the wires (behind the dimmer) is twice the size of the previous plastic switch. Therefore, the dimmer switch is not sit in the housing and flush completely against the wall. How can I overcome this and maintain the flush appearance as the previous switch? Thanks.

Make the hole deeper and fit a deeper backbox.

They come in 16mm, 25mm, 35mm deep.
