I am currently replacing my switch and socket faceplates with metal ones.
The plastic front plates do not have an earth connector but the new metal replacements do.

I have bought some 1.5 and 2.5 Earth cable to connect the back plate earth to the front plate earth for light switches and sockets.

My question is what size cable do I need to do the same for the cooker socket?

BS6004 table 8

• 1.5 sqmm cable has 1.0 sqmm CPC
• 2.5 sqmm cable has 1.5 sqmm CPC
• 4 sqmm cable has 1.5 sqmm CPC
• 6 sqmm cable has 2.5 sqmm CPC
• 10 sqmm cable has 4 sqmm CPC
• 16 sqmm cable has 6 sqmm CPC

So if your cooker cable is 6mm your earth fly lead needs to be 2.5mm.

...also, the cpc connection from the supply should go to the faceplate and the fly from the faceplate to the backbox.
