Hi,

Looking to replace a radiator which had a leak.

I've closed the lockshield valve and the manual control valve and opened the bleed valve.

I've manage to undo the union nut on the manual control valve side and drain the radiator but the lockshield side nut is not moving. I'm using a spanner to hold the lockshield valve in place whilst I try to turn the nut towards me but the thing seems stuck solid.

Any tricks to get this moving?

are you def turning the nut the right way? i've never really had much bother removing them, the trick is to hold the valve steady as you dont want to cause a leak at the pipe inlet if the whole valve turns, you might need to use a bit of heat

Yeah, trying to turn the nut down as you look at it, the same way as I turned the other union nut (tried the other way just the now as well  ).

Will try and get some heat on the nut to free it up.

Cheers :)

If one end loosens by turning down as you look at it, the other end will have to turn upwards to loosen.
