Replacing recessed spot lights

Right, had a look around at the LED lights and I am sold on them.

I did look at the Aurora I9 but they were coming out a bit expensive, then looked at the Phillips ones which seemed a bit cheaper, but perhaps not as good.

Then realised how tall the fittings were. So, I took one of the lamps out and measure the recess and it seems to be about 90mm.

So, I don't think either the Phillips or Aurora would fit?

Is there anything similar, and decent priced, that would fit in the 90mm gap I have?

If you're retiling, what about using LED panel(s) fixed to the board, and then tiling up to the edges of it/them?

Thanks for the suggestion. Not liking the look though.

Basically after some easy to install recessed LEDs that will fit in a 90mm recess

This morning, I took down all three lights to have a good look. I cant get to any transformer!

I'll get a pic upload to explain.

This pic shows all three lights down.

This is the light to the right side. The black wire, that loops down, has a bit of slack, but the is into a connector block, which you can just about see through the hole but cannot get out. Its not caught on anything, its just the wire isn't long enough inside the recess to pull any more out.

Its frustrating me now.

What are the options with this?

Those look like the kit some superstores sell, 1-transformer(usually bigger than the lights cutout) linked to 3 lights, i had to replace 1 in the past, pulled on lead to get transformer to the cutout, then pulled on the transformers supply flex to get jointbox to cutout, luckily i only had to enlarge the cutout slightly to get jointbox out, then disconnected transformer and replced with new. If you try pulling on 1 of the wires at the far right, transformer may appear or lift floor above.

Given it a good tug now and it won't come any further. I think its either fixed to something, or even worse at the back of the tiling on the back wall.

I don't think I have any option really but to rip it down and have a look unless anyone as any bright suggestions.

At least that way, I can replace with whatever I want and know its put in properly if any future problems!

Do you not have access from above, I know question has been asked but cannot find an answer?

The upshot is, when you remove the tiles, it is highly likely that the ceiling will be damaged (dependant on it's fabric).
If it were me, in your position, I would be preparing myself to rip the whole ceiling down regardless. You will almost certainly save time doing this, rather than thinking you may get away with limited damage by removing tile by tile.
Then the repair work to ceiling again, for the size of the area, it would be as quick reboarding then repairing.

Sorry, I missed answering the question. No access from above.

Starting to realise its going to have to be pull off the board and do again. That will also open up more options for the lighting anyway. I would hate to leave what we have, put the new tiles up and then have the transformer that's buried in there go!

You could just fit some 12V AC LED lamps and some new fittings if you dont want to start pulling the ceiling down.
