Replacing stop tap head

Would it be acceptable to replace just the head on this stop tap?

For the sake of a fiver, replace the whole thing, when you do, undo the gland nut & stick some silicone grease around the bottom of the shaft, it'll remain unseized much longer.
 
Not so easy if you can't get the purchase on it to loosen it from the body, especially on what looks like plastic pipe.

Changing the whole tap not an option?
