Replacing Tap Washer

You may know what your tap is like but we dont!

Whats the point of posting TWO questions which are the same?

Doing that reduces your chance of a reply because you are starting off by filling the forum with questions which are impossiblke to answer without the relevant details.

Dont you realise that?

All you had to do Tony is to click on the posters name and the photo is there for all to see.
Use a spanner on the hex part and turn anti clockwise while holding the body and it will come apart to expose the internals.(dont forget to turn off 1st)

the beauty of this tap is you DONT turn ther water off to change the washer, they are called "supataps" and have their own special waasher in a metal housing, you turn the tap on full then undo the nut above the hand grip then simply unscrew the head further and off it pops, the washer is inside the handle and pushes up on a pin inside the body so when you remove the head completely the water stops they are from the 70's and prob not available anymore,
PS i bet when tamz reads this he nips out to his old tool box in the garage and finds some, seriously if i had the time i could go and get some from the darkest corner of my garage but the thought of spending days raking through the old tool boxes doesnt cheer me up

FWIW the "Holdtite" boxes (or similar kits sold at Plumbers Merchants in a 6x4x1" plastic box) have the supatap washers in them.

Agree they are eazeeeeee to change, have not done one for 25years or more though..., found them mostly in Belfast type sinks that had a horizontal flat back with the tap holes already made.
