Having found the price of a Grohe cartridge (and also the temp knob is sliding past its stop), I decided to replace the bar with a cheaper whole unit.

I've tried a cheap very Bristan and now a cheap Triton (both made in China I think). Unfortunately neither would quite line up with the existing pipework (originally fitted using a Grohe fitting bracket supplied as a part of the kit) - out by just enough (prob like 1mm) to cross the threads if I try and force it!

Am I missing something here? If they're all 150mm across the inlets they should align?

Is this a common problem when switching makes and especially when using cheaper brands?
