Replacing two gang light switch

Hi I want to replace current 2 gang light switch operating two separate lights with new metal version
the First image white switch is current set up showing wires connected to L1 and L2

And the black switch the one I want to replace with but not sure where the wires go for straight swap.

I have 1.5mm earth and sleeve to add to the metal switch . Any help welcome

in both cases, your switch plate contains two switches. Each has three terminals.

They may not look it, but they are actually the same.

the three terminals are arranged in a triangle. One terminal at one end (the "point" of the triangle), two at the other.

Put the "supply" lead into the point of the triangle, the single, (marked "com" on the new switch) terminal

and the "load" into L1 in the switch. If, when you operate it, it works upside down, put the load into L2

The reason your old and new switches look different to you, is that in the old, one of the triangles is "point up" and one is "point down." In the new switch they are both "point up." also, the old switch is marked "L1, L2, L3" and new "com, L1, L2."

They work the same.

Thank you for helping with this. Could I please ask just to clarify that the cables in L1 in the old switch are the com in new and the thicker cables in l2 in old are now L1 ( or l2 if upside down many thanks

From the photos which you have supplied it is not obvious from where will come the Earth connection required for your "new metal version" of the switch plate concerned.

That looks like stranded cable, is there an earth in there which you will need for the metal fronted switch.
