Replying to older Posts

Trying to reply to a post that is 4 years old (need some advice from original poster), but post is too old to reply to.

Should I just message the original poster? It says I can't message until I've made one post and been registered for 2 days.

Will creating this post be enough or do I need to create another post elsewhere?
